The Just Giving Tree

Today we took the children into town to do a little bit of shopping and more importantly to visit the “Just Giving Tree.’I wanted the children to pick a child each that they would like to give a present to this year and then we went off on a hunt for gifts for them. Its so sad when you see the names and ages of the children hanging up there on the tree, and it makes me feel very lucky that we are all together happy and healthy. It also makes the children realise how lucky they are. When I explained to them where these children are and what their Christmas would be like they were shocked, and they really wanted to send them something nice. Big Bird even went one step further and said can I make them a Christmas Card to put in their bag, which I thought was lovely.

We picked out four children in total and I am planning on picking 3 more when I go back tomorrow.  I hope the children who receive our gifts have a fab Christmas and fingers crossed we manage to put a smile on their face on Christmas Day. This is something that I am going to get my children to do every year, its a lovely way for them to think about others at this time of year and realise how lucky they are.

I was just about to ask if anyone had any idea’s for presents for a 12 year old girl and 13 year old boy as we do this every year. I try to pick the older children as they always seem to be left on the tree. Any ideas would be helpful.

Ohh thats a tricky one,I have a Brand New digital camera here worth about £30 I am giving one of the older children, hope they like that. I think a girl would love a handbag or neck scarf. (primarks open so you could get something nice in there at a good price)
