Christmas is coming ……

My favourite time of the year has to be Christmas,I have always loved Christmas and I always pull all of the stops out to make it special for my family. Daddy Bird works really hard all year around so its left to me to make sure it runs smoothly. I love writing Christmas cards,I always write them early (normally October) just because it gets me in the Christmas spirit, and then once I have written the cards I start the present buying for our family and friends, followed by the Christmas food and of course the drink.

With just 64 days until Christmas I am already up to the present buying stage this year and I am proud to say that I am over half way there already, not bad for the middle of October! Whilst doing our local food shop in Tescos last week the children saw a Christmas display full of treats and they stood there drowling over them for quite a few minutes before I had to call them away. Big Bird insisted that I go over and have a look at some of the festive sweets. I wondered over with her where I was asked “Mummy please can I have this for Christmas? and this? and this?”as she pointed along a long line of Chocolate santas,Reindeer jelly lollies and Candy sticks for the Christmas tree.

When we got home the children then asked if they could start writing their Christmas Lists. I said they could and because it was so early they could stick it onto the fridge and add and remove anything that they wanted to up until we post it to Santa. Little Birds list contained mostly of Lego items that he wants with a few added bits of Moshi Monster toys and some little cars. Big Birds Christmas List contained the usual first item –A Real Puppy (erm nope again, but nice try.) Maybe she thinks if she keeps writing a puppy on her list then Santa will get fed up with her asking and buy her one. Just for the Record I HAVE had a word with Santa and he knows we would love a puppy but unfortunately we do not have the time for one in our family right now.

Next up on Big Birds List was the Moshi Monsters My Monsters Home she spotted it in Tescos when we were shopping and then when we got home we went onto Tesco.com to show it to Daddy. Anyone who knows me and my blog will know that Big Bird is mad about Moshi Monsters and when she saw this she really wanted it,now I am sure that is more on Santas ‘I CAN do list.’Big Bird also added a doll and chocolate to her list and its now hanging on the fridge waiting to be posted.

So the Christmas Cards are ready for posting, the present buying has begun that just leaves me the food and drink to sort out. I will slowly stock up every week that I do a food shop. I love to buy a little bit at a time so I am not doing it all in one go the week before Christmas. I am really looking forward to Christmas this year,I know the children will really enjoy it. I will try and contain my excitement until I see the Coca Cola Advert on the television, because when I see that I really know that Christmas is coming.
